My entry to the ASCII compo at the Russian demoparty DiHalt 2008, placed #2. This is an ASCII version of the Russian matryoshka, nested wooden dolls. They are often called "babushka" (and "maatuska" in Finnish), which is apparently incorrect, but the word means granny, which is why I settled on that name.
The design is a kind of an amalgamate of many different matryoshka dolls to resemble one that I used to have but don't know where it is. I'm rather happy with the way the flower decorations turned out.
What I like about Russian demoparties is that you can enter ASCII of pretty much any style/subject and still rank well, while at many parties no matter how good the picture, you won't rank well unless it is a text logo of a certain style (and often it's just namevoting anyway).
lol, P.S.: 1.Babushka means grandma, and/or a hat that's wrapped around your neck.
2.Matryoshka is what the Russian nesting dolls are called in Russian.
LOL!
Lol, I am also learning how to speak Russian. "Ya gavaryu po-russkii" (I speak Russian)
I am one of those people who love to learn about cultures and countries in the world and stuff...
lol, I am a dork- but, I am proud to be one- LAWL.
Anyways, good job!
And, DiHalt 2009 will be in the next month, hope you'll participate again
