Finally the second part is here, bringing you 10 selected pieces from one of DA's all but forgotten sections, the Literature > Prose > Non-Fiction gallery here on DeviantART. This issue dabbles between teenage crushes and political taboos and many things inbetween. I'm sucky at scribbling any kind of writeups, but don't be scared away. The pieces are much better than my writeups. Check out their galleries too, many of the featured writers also excel in fictional prose and poetry.

:bulletblue: The Rally by naragem3
Don't let the overly long paragraphs turn you away. This is a valuable and interesting read, a depiction of Ku Klux Klan's rally. The writer was present instead of just summarizing news sources and the personal viewpoint works very well.

:bulletblue: The Scar by by EveningDownpour
Fairly short for a biographic piece, but incredibly well narrated and delightful to read. The diction, the structure and the vocabulary all appear professional and polished. It is a story about walking to school, but also about much more.

:bulletblue: The Butcher of the Balkans by IconicImagery
I hope you know who Slobodan Milosevic was, but whether or not you do, this is something you should read. The author builds a strong and straight-forward account of the dictator's life and death and the significance of both.

:bulletblue: Holocaust Denial by RFW1
Like you might guess from the title, this is quite a controversial essay. It's not so much about the holocaust denial itself, but the way it has been made a forbidden, even illegal topic. An intellectual and thought-provoking read.

:bulletblue: Weightless xonlyindreamsx
An autobiographical account of the beginning of a relationship may sound like a pile of cheese and clichés, but somehow this one isn't. It's not so much due to the unusual turn of events, but because it's so skillfully written and aptly described.

:bulletblue: The Disability to Write by sisterjanet
Writing about writing can also be considered a trite subject - but like all clichés it can be handled well. This is a powerful and elaborate take on writer's block, with the focus on the hand instead of the mind.

:bulletblue: Pointless Nostalgia by fleeet
Some more romance and nostalgia, try to bear with me. It's perhaps not so much about the story in this case, it's the tone and the narrative that make this such an uplifting and enjoyable read, and perhaps the way we can all identify with it.

:bulletblue: nothing more, nothing less by baywatch421
An interview of an ordinary American man. It's perhaps more important what the interviewee doesn't say than what he does. With a few words yet with careful description the article draws a portrait of this man, the 28-year old TJ.

:bulletblue: Narco-terrorism in Latin America by ckp
This piece is so thoroughly researched and full of information that it feels overwhelming and almost pedantic. It poses many questions, but also answers most of them, about a problem that boils down to the inevitable - money.

:bulletblue: Stranger in a Wasteland by mooduleur
An intriguing and solid piece of literary journalism. Poverty, cocaine addiction and a soup kitchen, the author takes you on a a journey to a place somewhere near, yet farther than we normally want to go.
